My interest has always been about the mind and body – following a Biology degree, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry before moving into learning and development. One of my favourite things was developing staff by challenging their beliefs about their potential and helping them to attempt and succeed at things they thought beyond them.
Since childhood I have had rheumatoid arthritis, which has meant a fair amount of surgery and a lot of drugs, blood tests and restrictions over the years. Every time I went on some sort of training, I kept returning to a particular stage of my life where I had been unable to cope with my situation very well – which was also when the RA started. Eventually I tired of injecting myself in my thigh every week, and decided to see if there was a different way. I learned Reiki, counselling, hypnotherapy, tapping/EFT and NLP – and then set about healing myself.
I am now a fully-signed up believer in our ability to heal ourselves and reach our potential through our mind or our body – the route doesn’t matter. I have given up the blood tests, the injections in my thigh and most of the restrictions that have characterised my adult life, and my last rheumatologist described me as a ‘medical miracle’. I wonder what comes next? Watch this space…
